On A Colorado Note: The Thursday Files: When Heart Calls Your Name

It's Thursday once again, and it has been a delightfully busy week.

Before starting the new week, I ended the old week by throwing my husbands birthday party. This is his "about to cry" face as I showed him the watch I got him.. lol.

For Earth Day, I did some trash pick up with some awesome people, followed by brunch at one of my new favorite brunch places, Dazzle.. and their bloody Marys.. 2 die 4! Nice reward for a full bag of garbage. Now, we actually did this on Sunday, which was the day before Earth Day, and thank heavens we did it then, because on Monday.. the ACTUAL Earth Day, it was cold and snowing.. but I am not even going to carry on about that. So I digress.. ;-)

This morning started off on a wonderful note, because I knew I was going to meet with Tina Carter, head of You Can Begin Again, the organization that I will be working with that helps girls get back on their feet. What a wonderful, strong, and beautiful spirit Tina is. Not that I was not aware of it already, but connecting with her was kismet.. and it's just the beginning.

What's Dead Skin Got to do With It?

About two weeks before the season changes here in Colorado, I've noticed that my husband and I's skin becomes a dry and tight mess.

This is one of the reasons I developed the 303 Dolls line. Love the state, and prior to developing this line, I was trying to love the drastic changes in skin.. but come on, who wants to put up with that? A little bit of loofah in your life is always a good thing.

Although we are in Spring.. Mother Nature is on one, so we are still dealing with winter weather. Each time the snow finishes and temps go back to the 60's and 70's, our skin acts as though the onset of a new season is upon us. Again.. and again.. and again. I've been exfoliating with 303 Dolls Face and Body Floral Utopia Salts each evening, followed by the Lucky in Lime and Rosemary mask. Soft and deliciously taut skin is the end result!

Thank goodness for finding a remedy for the "drizies." There's nothing we can do about Mother Nature being moody, but at last, there is something we can do about obnoxiously dry skin!

........and the heavens opened up and I shouted, "Hooray for soft skin!"

Yah, that part was corny, but that's why you love The Zen Den.

On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files: When Passion becomes Purpose

There are moments when an overwhelming need to take care of something become so great, you sometimes have to set everything aside and tend to that need.

I dedicated this week to looking for local organizations that help women who
are starting their lives over, due to domestic violence, as well as young women who come from troubled backgrounds. After quite a bit of research, I decided to contact You Can Begin Again. I corresponded with Tina, the Founder and Executive Director, and she loved what I wanted to do. I am bubbling over with excitement to create goodie bags for these wonderful ladies. My mind and heart were in overdrive to make sure that this happened, and it's only the beginning.

If you're a regular reader of The Zen Den, you know Thursday is about awesome local things that happened, and one of the most awesome things happened today.. my husbands birthday.

Happy Birthday, love. You're everything to me.

Sunday Spa Day

You are now free to relax.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/128433870/303-dolls-face-and-body-presents-stolen?

Massages are like hugs here in the Lundy household, free and plentiful. My husband was telling me that his shoulder was sore. Since he does not down Pepto Bismol and Tums like most day traders, I'm figuring it may be a nice big clump of stress.

It was beautifully peaceful and sunny in our home this morning. I brought out 303 Dolls Face + Body Stolen Moment Body Oil, and began giving his shoulder the spa treatment.

He loved it.

When I first "thought" I was finished, he asked, "Hey where are you going? That felt so good!" I giggled, rolled my eyes and said, "If I give you a massage much longer, I'm going to need one myself."

Happy Sunday from 303 Dolls. Make it a great one.

On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files: A Simple Walk Will Do

Even though I can have tunnel vision when it comes to work, I am aware of that moment when everything has to stop, and a breath has to be taken.

We had an "alleged" blizzard this week. You will not see pictures of it here, because it did not exist. It snowed. It became VERY cold. However, there was no blizzard. I'm sure the children were happy, they got a snow day out of it.

Thursdays at the Zen Den are typically about awesome things happening around town. This Thursday, I'm writing about taking a break and slowing down, which was weather induced.

I did a lot of reading, a little studying (product knowledge) and Spring cleaning. By the time the 48 hours of cold was over, I was ready to be outside, but I just wanted to go on a simple walk. Not heading anywhere in particular, not power walking. Just an opportunity to walk, yet stand still (with my thoughts.) It was just what I needed. A simple walk.

When Old Becomes New

It's wonderful to find good things that were once forgotten.
When I took part in my first craft fair in December, I kept a few items here at the loft tucked away in a pantry. Days and months have gone by where I open the pantry, look at the Cranberry Rose Body Oil Sugar Treat as I grab something else, and closed the door.

This day was wonderfully relaxed and comfortable, and when it was time to shower, I (finally) made my way to the pantry and grabbed the sugar treat.. and fell in love with the stuff.

As a creator of face and body products, I use what I sell, and what stays around is not only what I enjoy, but what I believe in. Months ago, I removed this listing from my Etsy shop because I had not had the opportunity to use it, and I felt it was dishonest to list something I had not yet tried. Well, I've tried it.. and it's just plain heavenly.

The bottom line.. it's about what I believe in. I stand behind everything that I sell with pride, and I'm so happy that I finally got around to Cranberry Rose. It's the perfect home spa product.

On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files: When Life Gives you Love, Embrace it

Marci and Stewart, May of 2012.

My last blog expressed how super stoked I was about doing my shoot for Crave. Well, today was the day and it went WONDERFULLY! The photographer Kimberly was a delight.. she did a fantastic job.

My husband and I are in the business of supporting one another. I'm in the business of being bossy, but still asking for opinions, which sometimes leaves Stewart at a loss for words. When we arrived at the location where the shoot was happening, Stewart had his headset on, and he was relatively quiet.. I had to ask him what was going on. He said he was there for me.. and basically he did not want to offer any suggestions. That's great and I appreciated that, but I told him its still okay to talk! Lol! Since he loves to direct (in regards to photography) I guess it was easier for him to just keep mum:) Well, after Kimberly arrived, she was so personable and open to suggestions, it was all smooth sailing after that.

Sure, I could have gone to the shoot alone, but why not share the fun with my love? That is how our life goes, and let me tell you.. it's a wonderful feeling to have that support and love.. nonstop, and unconditional.

Ready for my Close Up

Far left photo: See Marci Modeling, Circa January, 2003.
Like a myriad of young thangs, I've done the modeling thing. It was fun, it was fruitful (while my ADD  allowed me to be responsible enough to do it.. which was not happening much in the early 2000's..) buuut, I digress.

By 2005, I had no interest in modeling.. instead I fell in love with being behind the camera, which has stuck with me.

Now fast forward to 2013, where old modeling skills, my current company, and ideas for photography will all come full circle.

This week I will be doing the photo shoot for my two page spread in the Crave Urban Girls Manifesto book. Excited? Yeaaa Mayne.. a little. Nervous? Never that. Having control freak moments in my head? Yea, a little.

I have it all mapped out in my head.. which you know, when you do that, it usually never happens that way, lol! None-the-less, I'm ready. I'm amped. Plus, how awesome is it to have all of your loves (past and current) meet up in a full circle moment? Heh!

Believe that.
