On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files (Lost in (Nederland) Space)

Heeeeey, what do you know.. it's Thursday.. and you know what that means!! :)

August 2012, I planned a little spur of the moment photography trip in Nederland with my husband. Packed up the jerky, dried fruit, iced tea, and my camera gear. Went to bed early, and got up even earlier the next morning. Everything was going well for our mini trip.

We stopped by Amante in Boulder for a couple of "cuppas." Everything was still going wonderfully. Love Boulder. Love Amante. It was 7am and 70+ degrees. Can't beat that.

Yah.. that's a rockslide. Happened at about 9:15 a.m.. 15 minutes after we made our way to Nederland. We had no idea. Saw a guy on a bike that informed us of the rockslide.. and that the roads were closed down in both directions. First there was the "wtf" factor, then there was the "omg" factor, then there was the "fml" factor.. and finally there was the "Nederland is not the worst place to be stuck in" factor. Granted, you can literally snap your fingers twice and have made your way through the quaint town.. but its a great place.

We spent about 21/2 hours at Buffalo Bill's Coffee and Confections.. an awesome coffee shop in a restored train car. Spoke with a local who was "working from home" on the train. Very chill atmosphere. The atmosphere made us feel a lot better about being stranded. The local told us about the Daily Camera, a Boulder paper, and an app that kept us up on what was happening with the rock slide.. although we were majorly perserving cell phone battery power.

Believe it or not, this is where we found the most amazing Indian cuisine. Ever. Kathmandu. The thought of how delicious that food was makes me want to get stuck there once again.. or not.

Here you have Nederland's finest. The officers who went above and beyond to make sure that we got back to Boulder.. which would ultimately get us back home to Denver.. because hour #7 in Nederland saw us reluctantly considering staying the night. Props to my husband for going into Nerderland PD while I took pictures (which was, after all, what we actually went there for.) We still keep in touch with them, mainly Lois in the middle:) she holds it down over there. All of their hard work finding us a way out of Nederland got us one of the most awesome (and unexpected) tours we've had thus far in Colorado.

At the end of the day, I got awesome pictures. Had aMAHzing Indian food. Made new friends.. and found that even when you're stranded in Colorado, the land and the people are so great, it can STILL remain as awesome as I've grown to know it to be. I'm Marci, and this concludes this Thursdays addition of The Thursday Files.

Like a Cave Chick: Softness with a Flint

I was under the weather last week, but I'm feeling better and I have an announcement to make (ahem, ahem, mic check, 1.. 2.. anyone there?)

303 Dolls Face and Body.. has a sibling! Sexy Earth Chicque Studios. The face and body products for this line have no more than four ingredients each.. all natural. The greeting cards, Color Me Colorado, are all being made on recycled paper. I'm such a proud mama:)

Anywho, enough gushing on my end.. well not really, I'm about to carry on about a new favorite that is in the Sexy Earth Chicque line, and that is the Body Flint. love, Love, LOVE this.

It's still very dry out, but my products have my back. I've been using the Sexy Earth Chicque Flint on the heels of my feet and my hands.. aWeSoMe! Of course, you can really do no wrong with cocoa butter and activated charcoal. I have a couple of Flints resting on the sink in the bathroom, for quick grab and go action. I used one on my husbands face this morning (always the willing participant he is!) After asking what it was, he calmed down, and let the Flint work its magic:)

It's sturdy, long lasting, and great for a last minute scrubbing if you notice a bit of dryness on that last mirror check out the door!! (Cue Oprah yell) Woooo-ooo!!

On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files (on Friday)

I was feeling under the weather a bit this week. There is a lot I need to blog about. That will come later. First things first.. I've got to do my Thursday Files blog. It's a day late.. (Sigh) but I digress.

Last Saturday was The National Day of Service. My husband Stewart and I, along with our most awesome friend Stephanie, joined the Golden Triangle Association of Denver in picking up trash around Denver. We all met at Rooster and Moon. Got our trash bags and sticks, broke into small groups and got busy!

Afterwords, we all met back up at Rooster and Moon and enjoyed a complimentary coffee. Stephanie introduced me to a chai soy latte, and I am forever grateful to her for that.. they are sooo delicious:)

It was a wonderful Saturday, and it felt wonderful to do my part on our National Day of Service.

On A Colorado Note: The Thursday Files

Hello everyone!

As I announced in last Thursdays blog post, The Zen Den is dedicating Thurdays to the wonderful state of Colorado, and awesome things that are happening around town, or things that have happened that I took part in.

This week I am sharing photos from when my husband and I did a 5k walk for Susan G. Komens Race for the Cure this past October. It was a MIGHTY cold Sunday.. but boy was it ever worth it. A literal sea of people out for an amazing cause.

That's my hubs there! One morning he said to me, "Let's do Susan G. Komens Race for the Cure. I was in.. and so incredibly proud and happy to have a husband like him. We chatted a bit.. shivered a bit.. got separated from one another for a bit.. but mainly we were silent, looking around in awe and admiration of people who were walking in memory of someone, or who were currently fighting breast cancer. Beautiful individuals with amazing strength. As long as we are able to, we'll be out walking with them each and every year.

Me Spa

https://www.etsy.com/listing/115062348/303-dolls-face-body-passion-petals-and

My husband and I live downtown. Heart of the city. Having a car is a liability!

I'm totes chill with that though. I mean, I love walking.. hell, my maiden name is Walker.. the writings on the wall. I really do enjoy walking, but I am guilty of not always having the right shoes on. Walking half a mile to My Favorite Muffin in Guess Boots that are a half size too big (but "you" (me) got them because "you" (I) could not leave the store without them) not such a great idea. Sooo, this evening I gave my toesies the VIP treatment with 303 Dolls Passion Petals and Pearls Bath Salts.. which make an aMAHzing foot soak. Spent an hour with warm bubbly water that had the lovely scent of roses. It was so NOT torture :-) My feet are silky smooth and loving me once again.. now about those boots.....

After I finished towel drying my toesies, I made my nummy tea, and nearly slid across the floor because I'd slathered my toes with my crystal rose salve. Now that my friends, would have been just plain unfortunate and slightly hilarious (to my husband only) and I probably would have stabbed him with a piece of the broken cup.. if it had broken.. but it didn't.. and lol.. I would not do that to him.

If you'll excuse me I have a spot of tea to sip and an Allure I need to bury my head in. Ciao!

Salted Honey.. Om Nom Nom Care For Your Bods Rough Spots

https://www.etsy.com/listing/115445738/303-dolls-lucky-in-lime-rosemary-honey

I love my face and body care regimen. Often my husband thinks I'm in the bathroom for prolonged periods to get away from him.. that's only true 5% of the time. ( ;-D )

I've been using the 303 Dolls Lucky in Lime and Rosemary Honey Mask for months now. My face does not behave correctly without it. I'm not just whistling Dixie.. my skin feels tight and lame without it. A few late evenings when I did not feel like doing my whole regimen..  I found that I cannot live without it. It was a good thing.

Honey is a "honey" of a product :-) !!  I decided to add a little sea salt and other delici~oh~so things to another honey mix and dubbed it Salted Honey. I wanted it to act as an alternate to Lucky in Lime, and also work well on my tootsies and kneesies. It did not disappoint. I rubbed it in, let it sit for two minutes, and  gently took a warm washcloth and washed it off. As Oprah would yell, "woooo~oooo!" Softness a plenty. It also works very well on my hands. I'm a bit obsessive compulsive when it comes to hand washing, so naturally.. that can make them look.. for lack of a better word.. tiy-urd. Salted honey leaves them looking.. rested!!

On A Colorado Note..

Each Thursday, the Zen Den is going to start writing a blog about something awesome that happened in Colorado that I was a part of, went to.. or noticed while I was out, because let's be honest here.. Colorado is pretty damn awesome.

Soooo, everyone in Denver is United in Orange. We're all pulling for our beloved Broncos! This morning at Sam's #3, 9 News Denver gave out awesome Bronco beanies (see said beanie on my head there) and a lot of the fans stayed to have breakfast. My husband and I went and had a blast! Made the news.. lot's of fun.

Introducing: Brit-Brat-a-Licious

I can finally share the new flavor being introduced into the 303 Dolls Family. Brit-Brat-a-Licious is its name. It was made with the idea of my lovely niece in mind, who will be turning 21 tomorrow!

She's a lovely, vivacious, and intelligent young lady, and I wanted to create a lip butter for her that represented who she was. This is a lip butter that has the flavors of the classic bubblelicious bubble gum, as well as a bit of a floral scent. Ruby red coloring and a cute silver tin (or lip butter "sticks"your choice.)

I couldn't wait to get the lip butter to my niece, and she was excited to receive it. "I feel like a VIP" were her exact words:) Love that little lady.. <3 this was a fun one to create, for sure.

Name That.. Oh Hold On, I Can't Tell You Yet!

Creating new scents and flavors has become my middle name. It's fun, exciting when it's successful, and the added bonus is being in the kitchen cooking up a flavor of lip gloss and tricking my husband because he thought I was making dessert!

The excitement behind this particular flavor is a joy, so very excited to unveil it this weekend! However, mums the word for now.. my lips are sealed.. with this awesome new flavor! Yummerz!!
