On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files: Beauty Here, There, and Everywhere

As you know, the Thursday Files is when I write about awesome things that are happening with me.. or in and around Colorado.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/127407480/303-dolls-face-and-body-cinnamon-yuzu?

My newest creation.. Cinnamon Yuzu Baked Body Bar by 303 Dolls Face + Body. Can't you just smell it now:)

I thought it was a wonderful way to bring in Spring. A beautiful citrus scent blended with cinnamon baked goodness, which represents the invigorating appeal of Spring, along with cozy comforts of Winter.

In other words.. it represents the fact that it is indeed Spring, but we still need the warm cozy goodness you get during winter.. because no-one gave Mother Nature the memo about it being Spring. See.. the perfect combo! (Snarky, I know!)

Notice the gorgeous moon in the upper left corner. Tuesday evening I went out photo walking and got this shot of the moon playing hide and go seek, along with a bit of the skyline.

Another wonderful thing here is the construction that has been going on near Union Station. It is coming along wonderfully. Progress is ahead of schedule.. and it is amazing to see the development of our downtown. Denver is already a wonderful city to live in, but the positive vibe around the city as we all watch it develop is nothing more than a thing of beauty.

On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files (On Saturday Because..) Oh Bloody Hell, I Simply Forgot.

I say "bloody hell" with love.. I had a wonderful week.

I think I've mentioned this before, but my husband is on the council for the Denver Performing Arts, and this week we were delighted to attend the dress rehearsal for "A Weekend with Picasso." Herbert Siguenza who is aMAHzing does a fantastic one man show. Paints like a dream in five minutes or less. Such a nice individual as well. Looking forward to attending the play in my ooh la la clothes, lol. The photo above was taken Thursday evening with a most awesome group of peeps that also attended the dress rehearsal, Jennifer and her family.

Ladies and gentleman.. can I get a what what? Can I get a woot woot? The picture above is the first order I sent to Out of the Box Sampler. First of many to come. I am so excited about this opportunity.. and such fun to think of what I will create/use for the upcoming months:)

Aye Papi.. who is that handsome devil?!?! It's my handsome #1. We have taken up Cigar smoking.. which I initially was COMPLETELY against.. and then I tried it this week and fell COMPLETELY in love.
That's me.. all pro, smoking a cigar. NOT.. but I'm having a blast developing the talent.. :)

Friday was a deliciously fun day as well. Shout out to Mia! (she's in the pic) Friday was her birthday, and she had a lovely get together at The Living Room. We unfortunately were unable to stay long because PBS was having a Volunteer Appreciation ceremony at the same time. I must say, it was pretty nice seeing just how many hours some of the volunteers have put into Public Broadcasting here in Denver.. thank God for them. Did I mention it started snowing while we were en route Friday afternoon? Both my husband and I had a good 4 inches of snow collectively on our bods once we arrived back at the lofts, lol! It was great.. made for a fun, pelted-by-snow-in-the-face walk home:)

This concludes the Thursday Files.. on Saturday.

Dear Winter: Would you Bleeping Get out of Here Already!?! Best, Marci

Thursday Files!!
That's me across from our lofts about two weeks ago on a cold and snowy day.

I enjoy Winter.. but I've got to be honest with myself.. I'm over it. Did I mention I'm a Southern California native? Us natives don't always do winter very well. I have six layers on, two hats, plus my coat in this photo. How can I be excited about that?

This is a shot I got a few Springs back. I am looking forward to seeing everything in bloom, leaving home in flip flops, an overabundance of slurpees and red vines.. but I digress. I've actually got such a massive amount of Spring fever because we had an absolutely gorgeous day today, 73 degrees to be exact. It's such an exciting time of year.. people walking down the street with pleasant looks on their face, not scrunchy, frowned up faces because of snow pelting them in the face.

Took this photo last September.. days before Fall in Morrison, CO. Notice the hood on my head, that's not for fashion.. it was starting to get chilly outside, and I was anything but happy knowing that the sun, my myriad of sundress days, and deeper than normal tan were about to come to an end for the season. Yes, I love Spring and Summer that much. Colorado is fantastic no matter what season it is.. but I am really looking forward to Spring here, it is my favorite season.. and if you have visited or lived through a Colorado Spring, you know why.. :-).

On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files: Don't Make Me Ova.. (When I'm in Boulder)

There's my alter ego, Skye, the hippy chick. Welcome to the Thursday Files.

This past Sunday my husband and I went up to Boulder, which is one of my absolute favorite places. Boulder can best be described as a college town, a town of people with decent means.. and lots of people who love biking, healthy eating, and our earth. Lovely place where everyone is extremely down-to-earth.. literally.

Heading to Boulder Creek when I took this shot.

The vibe of Boulder is evident here. Chill, right smack dab in the foothills. Small town vibe with a modern and earthy edge. I first visited Boulder in the spring of 2010. The drive up found me shedding layers of clothes until I was basically barefoot with a sundress on. Topped it all off with a wildflower through my braids once I arrived. Carefree and happy.. and I mean honestly, how can you not love that?

I always enjoy taking a moment here to center myself. Tranquility is always present in my life.

I love being in a place where each person around you seems to be delighting in the same level of tranquility. Life for my husband and I has been blessed beyond belief. I smile and inhale.. hold.. and exhale. Thrilled to be amongst such beauty, in such a beautiful place. This. Is. Living.

On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files: For the Foodie Lover in You

This weeks Thursday files is going to highlight Denver Restaurant Week which is happening.. now!

Other than body products and photography, I love an amazing meal. Love cooking.. love living downtown and having access to fantastic restaurants even more.

A dish from a restaurant my husband and I went to for my birthday. Let the crowd say Amen and Mmm Mmm Mmm.

Year number one in Downtown Denver saw our refrigerator with not much more than ice cubes, arugula, and cheese. There was a lot of eating out going on.. as well as broke Lundy household due to going out all the time. It's year three and we've regulated our foodie habit.

Studied the list of participating restaurants like a night before an SATs exam (not really) and still not sure which places we'll try. More than likely not the standard favorites, something new. It's a wonderful opportunity to delight in lots of different menu options. A couple eats for $52.80 (the amount of miles Denver is above sea level.. clever, eh?)

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go create a new sugar scrub that's been heavy on my mind.. more than which restaurant we'll choose first. Imagine that?!? Ciao for now.

Lundy Project in Effect: I'm Going In.. and Coming Out Smelling Lovely

Had to escape into the lab a.k.a my kitchen and get cooking, with product.

I spent bedtime this weekend tossing and turning as ideas flooded my brain with new soaps, sugar scrubs and custards. It was great.. but terrible. I would debate with myself whether or not I should get up and write my idea down, or keep my fingers crossed that I'd remember it in the morning. Well, getting up to write it down won every time!

On a Colorado Note: The Thursday Files: Snowy Days.. Keeping the Warmth Away..

It's Thursday!!

I must write about one of the main (and favorite) reasons people may move to Colorado: THE SNOW!!

A storm came through our state, dumping a pretty decent amount of snow everywhere. Living in the heart of the city, we tend not to get as much powder as the 'burbs, so when we get an amount larger than a trace.. it's pretty nice.

The photographer in me loves to capture the city covered with snow. Originally, my husband and I had planned to awaken bright and early and get shots of the fresh.. untouched powder. Well.. when you go to bed at 2 a.m.. it's a little difficult to awaken at 5 a.m bright eyed and bushy tailed with a Canon in your hand, lol! Made our way outside at the break of NOON. The snow was already melting:( but the flurries flying about and the cold temps made it all very winter beautiful. This is a shot from the building across from our lofts.

Last weekend, my husband got me a new tripod which I didn't happen to take with me while shooting today. Why? Well.. I am a clumsy kinda girl.. there is snow and ice on the ground.. the two just don't mix. Took the monopod and kept it moving. This was a shot where I was quite happy that it was photo~bombed.. having people in this shot made it a little more awesome:) I'm sure my husband will pat me on the back for adding the "human aspect" to the photo.. and this is why..

I LOVE getting shots of dead tree limbs!! Drives my husband batty!!

There was a time when I'd get the tightest of tight shot because I did not want any people in the shot. Thank goodness for growth, and my husband. Both helped me get past that mindset. There is indeed beauty in everything, and this Thursday was a beautiful day to capture some of the beauty that Mother Earth has to offer.
